Sadly this stone's beautiful decorations have been almost obliterated by acid rain and because cattle use it as a rubbing stone. In the 1970s the markings were much clearer.Farmer and land-owner John Hackett holds a photo taken by archaeologists in the 1970s with the markings chalked out to make them more distinct. This area has a magical aura and in the nearby field lies a roofless tomb with clearer carved marks.
