Feaghna Bullaun

County Kerry

Bullaun stones are a common feature in Irish landscapes often situated near to churches although most probably predate the Christian sites. Many consist of one or a few circular hollows but this one has smooth oval pebbles that apparently should be turned if you want to wish harm on another person. Pictured here is what lies underneath the central stone - a hollow full of coins that have been placed there over the decades from rusty old pennies to shining new euro coins.
