Iggy Pop
The Rainbow, London, UK
(November 7, 1981)
Iggy was performing in London regularly after the successes of his earlier albums ‘The Idiot’ and particularly ‘Lust For Life’. The Rainbow was very crowded that night, and there were a lot of photographers there. I remember being stuck on the right of the stage because of this. Usually I will move around in the photo pit to follow the artist but this show was jam-packed.
Iggy is famous for being the first singer to stage dive but he didn’t this time. I think there was too much of a gap between the orchestra pit and the stage, so there would have been no one to catch him. As he is one of those hyper active performers never still for more than a few seconds it was always hard to get a good shot of him.
